As a beginner to Upholstery you will learn the basic principles of traditional upholstery techniques.  Depending on the furniture you are working on you will learn how to construct a firm foundation using webbing, stuffings and stitch edges, fitting top covers and trimmings.  You will also learn about upholstery tools, equipment and materials.  We will examine fabrics and their suitability for upholstery in relation to the fire safety regulations and how to estimate and cut them.

If you already have experience in traditional upholstery techniques, depending on the furniture you are working on, you will be able to extend your learning to a more advanced level.

These are one-year purely leisure courses, so you will work on your own pieces of furniture at your own pace.
